Suffer
By Lionel Yu
He was born at the darkest hour,
The brink of war on earth,
It was the start of insanity,
And it all started… with his birth.
When his mother died and he was 5,
He was left out on the streets,
To try to improve his completely changed life,
But it was no use.
Through blistering winters without food,
He wobbled around and tolled.
There was no one who would take him in,
Seeing his hideousness…
In his youth years he lived as a beggar,
Being scoffed and glared at.
The only thing he had to survive,
Was the trash can nearby.
And by sleeping on rags,
And eating from trash bags,
Was he able to grow up.
But he was sickly and measly,
With almost no energy.
And with almost… no hope.
When he was twenty, he made
His way to a city.
However there happened an event,
That made his life a pity.
A gang committed a crime,
And by pure luck he was blamed,
For he was just a passer-by,
And now he was framed.
Without any money to support himself,
He was convicted that he had used a knife,
To kill an innocent girl,
And thus he was sentenced to life.
For 50 years he was there in jail,
Waiting, waiting, and waiting,
For his life to end,
To end his suffering.
But when he was almost 80,
Evidence found out he was innocent,
They had convicted him for the wrong thing,
And he was finally in freedom.
Now he was old and scarred,
His whole life in misery.
What a sad way to live a life,
It was the worst it could be.
And he died soon after,
And the world soon realized,
That he had suffered for his whole life,
And was despised.
Can you imagine living such a life,
Where you just seem to want to die,
Well hopefully you won’t ever know,
A person as unfortunate as this one.
